Republicans For Voldemort
Posted by thefinalcountdown on October 14, 2007

This blog will I’m sure end up offending those that lean to the right but if you have a sense of humor (or some free time to spare) why don’t you go ahead and read anyway?
So the other day on my daily trek to work I came across the bumper sticker “Republicans for Voldemort”. At first I was shocked but mostly amused. I didn’t know where such a statement or claim came from. Republicans for Voldemort.
Why is it confusing? Why, Republicans inhabit the muggle world and like Voldemort have serpent-like allies. However, though Republicans do have the power of spin, their magic is not quite as powerful that of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
You-Know-Who is so damn scary after all, you can’t even speak his name or some horrible fate will befall you! Especially if the name becomes taboo much as it did in the overrated Harry Potter: And the Deathly Hollows. There are also Republicans whose names have become taboo as of late, Larry Craig for one.
However the muggles aren’t the only ones with the power of spin. Lord Voldemort also used this muggle tactic to blame a series of deaths on his arch nemesis Harry Potter or his irresponsible godfather Sirius Black. And like Republicans he is a walking contradiction. He hates all things muggl
e but wears their suits (at least in the fifth film) and is a half blood himself, despite his constant opposition for muggle rights and his very vocalized hatred for them. Now, I don’t need to spell out the Republican correlation for this, do I? Just watch Jesus Camp and look up Ted Haggard.
Both You-Know-Who and Republicans have very faithful followers, pure bloods and those of a distinct noble lineage who shudder to think of sharing just a little bit of their glory and power with other inferiors who don’t meet the status quo.
I mean, yeah, I’m sure Voldemort is for cutting taxes…but for who?
Here is the comic that apparently inspired the bumper sticker:

Gotta give it to Voldemort though. At least he keeps it real.
And if some of you are offended by this, let’s all think back to certain bumper stickers certain political parties had made up for Democrats last election. “Osama Bin Laden for John Kerry” for one. At least this one makes a little sense.
Jokes I was too lazy to work in:
Snakes in Suits
Constitutional Ammendments
The Patriot Act

I see this as making fun of everyone demonizing republicans. Watch most news broadcasts or read any high school government textbooks and its always about the democrats trying to do something great but those damn republicans always strike it down.

“Republicans for Voldemort” is quite hilarious, I agree. Ridiculous. I laughed out loud when I saw it the first time. It really made me think…”Oh,really?” What about “Democrats for Umbridge?” Would that sound hilarious to you as well? The small print reads, “What War on Terror?” NOW that is a hoot!
